As the sun reappears and the temperatures rise, it’s time to say farewell to our beloved winter season. Before you pack away your skis and skates, here's a friendly reminder:
🚴♂️ Bike and Ski Trails: Proceed with caution! While the snow is melting, trails can get slushy and slippery. It's like biking on a giant, unpredictable Slurpee! Winter Recreation Trails at Tor Hill Golf Course are closed for the season due to warm and wet conditions.
⛸️ Outdoor Rinks: Mind the puddles! Keep an eye out for soft spots and melting zones. Your safety is our top priority! City Outdoor rinks are now closed as the ice is no longer safe to skate on.
☀️ Stay Safe! Enjoy the last glimmers of winter, and get ready to welcome spring's bloom. 🌷

I went ice skating with friends on the east side a man had made a homemade rink years ago and we all went skating and built a little igloo to go into to keep warm. We drank hot chocolate and ate while we braked from skating lots of families were there and the music was playing too
When we first moved Regina, we went sledding at Mount Pleasant. I'll never forget watching 4 grown adults go down the hill together in a giant sled, hit a bump, do a barrel roll, and land it. They all laughed, my family laughed. No one was hurt. It was pretty amazing. My family still talks about it every time we go sledding there.
My boy's will always cherish when we would pick up Grandma and drive through the light display they used to have in Wascana Park around by the Legislative Building. You tuned the radio to hear Christmas music playing, they were very young and their faces would light up like the lights. Grandma would sing along to the music. Always put us in the Christmas Spirit.
In the heart of Regina, Hoorain experienced the magic of her first snowfall. Bundled in a cozy snowsuit, she marveled at the delicate flakes swirling around her. With her parents by her side, they ventured into the snowy landscape, where laughter and discovery painted a canvas of enchantment.
As Halloween approached, the Wascana Science Center transformed into a festive maze, sparking anticipation in the air. Hoorain, along with other excited children, clutched their scavenger hunt lists, ready for an extraordinary adventure. Guided by clues, her family navigated the science center's corridors, each turn revealing spooky animal bones and other surprises... Continue reading
Our family, not very used to the snow and such minus temperatures back in the home country, dove into the heart of Canadian winter for the first time couple of years ago. Well, I would say, even the tales of bone-chilling cold from the locals couldn't prepare us for the reality that awaited.
As the first snowflakes fell, our children were so much excited. And even several winters here, their enthusiasm and excitement still remain and still sparks with each snowfall. They love to come home from the outside after the different winter activities (mainly sledding) and have a hot... Continue reading
When I was young, my favourite winter memory growing up in Regina was the Festival of lights. It was so magical to see all the dancing displays that were quite detailed and large, I would beg my parents all the time to go and see them. I do with now they still had this in the park, so I can take my daughter to see and create these same memories with her I had as a child
Some of my favourite memories from our Saskatchewan winters was always walking to elementary school in the 80s. After the streets were plowed the snow banks on the side of the road use to be like 6feet tall. It was always fun walking along and playing on them with friends coming home from school. Sometimes unfortunately would end up with a boot full of snow. Also after they plowed the parking lot and before removal of the gigantic mountain of snow, we would play king of the hill.
I no longer do this as an adult but always think about... Continue reading
Our family absolutely loved the photo scavenger hunt! We spent time outdoors completing several activities that we wouldn’t normally do on a regular basis. We even learned how to play Crokicurl, a new sport to us. After completing all the tasks we took the chill off winter and spent time diving into the nice warm water at the Regina leisure centre with our pass! Thanks City of Regina.
