As the sun reappears and the temperatures rise, it’s time to say farewell to our beloved winter season. Before you pack away your skis and skates, here's a friendly reminder:
🚴♂️ Bike and Ski Trails: Proceed with caution! While the snow is melting, trails can get slushy and slippery. It's like biking on a giant, unpredictable Slurpee! Winter Recreation Trails at Tor Hill Golf Course are closed for the season due to warm and wet conditions.
⛸️ Outdoor Rinks: Mind the puddles! Keep an eye out for soft spots and melting zones. Your safety is our top priority! City Outdoor rinks are now closed as the ice is no longer safe to skate on.
☀️ Stay Safe! Enjoy the last glimmers of winter, and get ready to welcome spring's bloom. 🌷

I came to Regina not long ago. Its been 5 years and coming from a country of hot weather, seeing snowfall for the first time in Regina was like a dream world. My best winter memory in Regina was in 2022 when I volunteered and attended the Frost Regina event. The view inside the Evraz was so mesmerizing as if I am in a out of the world experience with all the lights glowing up the atmosphere. Sliding on the Ice slides outside was something I had never done before. The happiness on my kids's face told it all about... Continue reading
Winter memories I had was always going skating in the outdoor rink by my elementary school, where my sister taught me to skate. Now I have taught my children how to skate, and we go a lot in the winter. We also as a family love to go tobogganing down the big hill by Home Depot and ring road it’s always been a tradition for us to go tobogganing on Christmas.
This happened I think in 2010 the granddaughters, our kids and two sets of grandparents had settled in the west ditch on Albert St South to watch the Santa Clause parade. It was a cold windy day and a lot of snow on the ground, we were sitting on lawn chairs with blankets wrapped around us and each kid had an adult's knee to snuggle into. As far as the adults were concerned Santa couldn't show up quick enough and as soon as Santa was in sight the screaming started.
It was my first job in Regina. I remember date also October 1st 2018 and i was pregnant with my 1st child. My husband was driving me at job weather was frosty but like beautiful scenery full of snow. Nature has created white blanket and nonstop snow was falling. I just fall in love with snow and Regina city with that winter scene.
One of my best winter memories in Regina would be when I first moved here. My parents, my brother, and I all moved here in 2004. The trip to get here was a very long trip! We drove here from New Brunswick. That first winter was so surprising to me-the weather was not what I expected!!!
But it was so wonderful to experience winter in our new home
Our pup, Nova recently passed from stage 4 cancer. Thinking back on winter; she never really did like it. She would lift her paws and scratch at the door whenever she would want back in. She didn’t like going for walks unless she had the sun gleaming on her coat, and we tried all the booties and winter gear on her we could. The only thing she liked was cruising around in the heated car, wasting gas. That’s what we did, and that was my favorite. Being with her. In the warm car. Wasting gas. I remember telling her that... One of my favorite memories is when we go ice skating on Wascana Lake. When my husband and I teach our kids how to skate, it’s cold and snowy outside, and then go drink hot chocolate!
One of my favorite winter memories in Regina is taking my grandchildren to Wascana Park to watch the geese by the lake. The park is magnificent in the winter
with the beautiful snow covered trees and the ice on the lake.
I immigrated from India recently. This is my first winters in Canada & Regina. I experienced my first snowfall of life in Regina. I couldn't sleep whole night with the excitement the day it snowed in November. My excitement knew no boundaries. The snowflakes dropping of and layering all white like a heaven. I was mesmerized and till now I enjoy everyday of winters. Somedays are sunny yet so cold. This place energizes me to go for walk and enjoy my evenings with cup of coffee with cozy home. Creating memories everyday as it's all my first time.
When my son and daughter were growing up we always loved going to Wascana Lake to Skate on the Ice! We also loved going for walks in Wascana Park to enjoy all the wild animals in nature!
