A survey ran from May 29 through June 10, 2023 to gather resident sentiment on three potential scenarios for traffic access to the F.W. Hill Mall.What we heard is that people in our community are passionate about this place!View the survey results <a href="https://beheard.regina.ca/37399/widgets/183965/documents/132692" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">here</a>.Over 6,600 survey responses were received. Results reflected a desire to maintain a pedestrian-focused environment, with 90 per cent of respondents preferring pedestrian-only access. Comments added further emphasized the community value for this space, many seeing it as a key feature in the downtown.Respondents also suggested improvements such as more activity, improved safety, places for bikes, scooters and drop-offs, and better seating.As part of last year&rsquo;s budget process, construction on the Mall was postponed to 2027. This summer, we are continuing the conversation with the community to understand how you want to use and experience the space. Your feedback will inform the vision and conceptual design of the space. Hill Mall on Scarth Street (or &ldquo;the Mall&rdquo;), downtown between 11th Avenue and 12th Avenue is a unique and special place in Regina. It is bordered by beautiful heritage facades that contain a mix of residential, commercial, and institutional spaces and amenities that create a hub where people gather to take part in special events and activities, and travel through to get to businesses, services, and other downtown spots.As the other downtown spaces like the 11th Avenue corridor and Victoria Avenue are renewed, revitalizing Scarth Street is an opportunity go beyond replacing what is there today to invest in a lively public life for the future.

Pesticides can include: <ul><li class="Paragraph SCXW173961827 BCX8">Herbicide &ndash; Intended to kill a plant </li><li class="Paragraph SCXW173961827 BCX8">Insecticide &ndash; Intended to kill an insect </li><li class="Paragraph SCXW173961827 BCX8">Fungicide &ndash; intended to kill a fungus </li><li class="Paragraph SCXW173961827 BCX8">Avicide &ndash; intended to kill a bird </li><li class="Paragraph SCXW173961827 BCX8">Rodenticide &ndash; intended to kill a rodent </li></ul><div class="OutlineElement Ltr SCXW173961827 BCX8">Cosmetic pesticides are defined as non-essential and used for aesthetic purposes. </div></div><div class="OutlineElement Ltr SCXW173961827 BCX8">Why is the City discussing pesticides now? </div><div class="OutlineElement Ltr SCXW173961827 BCX8">On April 20, 2022, City Council requested that City Administration explore the possibility of regulating and/or banning cosmetic pesticide use in Regina. </div><div class="OutlineElement Ltr SCXW173961827 BCX8">The University of Regina has been contracted to research pesticide bans including what is being done in other parts of Canada. </div><div class="OutlineElement Ltr SCXW173961827 BCX8">The final report with the University of Regina research, along with stakeholder and survey feedback, will be presented by City Administration to Executive Committee and City Council early in 2023.    </div><div class="OutlineElement Ltr SCXW173961827 BCX8">What&rsquo;s being asked of the public? In August, the City hosted stakeholder engagement sessions. Different businesses, groups and associations had an opportunity to speak about what a pesticide ban would mean to them and to ask questions. </div><div class="OutlineElement Ltr SCXW173961827 BCX8">Residents can now provide input through the public survey below. </div>

On March 8, 2023, City Council approved this Catalyst project to be located on the Sportsplex site. The next step is to submit funding applications and continue with the next stage of design.</div>Enter your email at the top of the page and hit subscribe to stay informed on project updates.BackgroundA new indoor aquatics facility was prioritized in the City&rsquo;s Recreation Master Plan and in July 2022, the feasibility study for the pool was presented to Executive Committee of Council. The feasibility study included community research and consultation. The project is also supported by a Community Advisory Committee.The approved project budget is $160.7 million. The facility will be heated by geothermal energy.The vision for the new facility is an accessible, inclusive and sustainable community destination that serves Regina residents and visitors for generations to come.</div>
