In June of 2021 Council approved a donation from the Arcola East Community Association (ACEA), East Zone Board and Hawryluk School Community Council (SCC), to upgrade recreation amenities in Varsity Park.
During the summer of 2021 upgrades are planned to the spray pad and to install a winter water service to allow skating on the tennis courts beginning this winter. At this time the fencing around the tennis court will be removed and it will not be replaced until 2022.
During the spring / summer of 2022 further upgrades are planned to:
Resurface and restripe the courts for both tennis and pickleball along with lighting and fencing upgrades
Remove the existing basketball half-court replacing it with a picnic area
Install a new full-sized basketball court west of the spray pad.
Plant new trees.
