City Council unanimously approved the Framework in March 2022.
While the Framework provides an ambitious community-wide plan that will require sustained effort from all sectors of the community, the City of Regina will play a leadership role in modelling the changes and behaviours that are required to reach our goals through advocacy, partnership, awareness/education and direct action in the municipal operation.
The Framework provides a strategic roadmap to mitigate climate change in a way that supports continued economic growth. It is a proactive approach that contributes to the community’s economic, social and environmental health collectively.
The recommended actions position Regina for a net return on investment by 2030 with an overall financial return of $12.5 billion by 2050. These actions also support an average net growth of more than 4,000 jobs per year.
Implementation of the Framework is underway and will be ongoing over the coming years. Multiple opportunities for community engagement can be anticipated for this long-term project.
