What type of construction projects are included in this review?

Administration is focusing the review and engagement on planned construction projects that impact the Road Right of Way. That means any roadway infrastructure project and underground utility work, even if it’s just reinstating an existing service. Emergency repair is not included in this review.

How will feedback from engagement be used?

Feedback from residents, businesses and interested and impacted parties will inform any opportunities for continuous improvement in construction practices.

Will this review compare Regina to other cities?

Yes. The review will consider practices used by other municipalities to identify opportunities and lessons that may be applicable to Regina.

Will this review examine if road construction can happen faster?

Yes. The review will examine opportunities to improve the efficiency and delivery of road construction, including factors that can affect project timelines.

Can I submit concerns for a current construction project?

The review is focused on the City’s overall approach to road construction rather than resolving concerns about individual projects. Questions or concerns about a current construction project should be submitted through Service Regina.

Will this review result in any changes to bylaws or policies?

The review will identify opportunities for improvement. If recommendations involve changes to City policies, bylaws or other requirements, those changes will follow the appropriate approval process.

Will this review impact any potential tax increases?

The review will consider opportunities to improve construction efficiency and value for money, but it will not predetermine future City of Regina budget decisions. Road construction and renewal funding are considered through the City’s annual budget process.

Does the City already implement any strategies for construction efficiency?

Yes. The report that will be shared at Council will highlight the continuous improvement initiatives the City has already implemented.
