As the sun reappears and the temperatures rise, it’s time to say farewell to our beloved winter season. Before you pack away your skis and skates, here's a friendly reminder:
🚴♂️ Bike and Ski Trails: Proceed with caution! While the snow is melting, trails can get slushy and slippery. It's like biking on a giant, unpredictable Slurpee! Winter Recreation Trails at Tor Hill Golf Course are closed for the season due to warm and wet conditions.
⛸️ Outdoor Rinks: Mind the puddles! Keep an eye out for soft spots and melting zones. Your safety is our top priority! City Outdoor rinks are now closed as the ice is no longer safe to skate on.
☀️ Stay Safe! Enjoy the last glimmers of winter, and get ready to welcome spring's bloom. 🌷

Experiencing my first winter in Regina after moving from Vietnam has been eye-opening.
Contrary to my imagination, snow doesn't fall every day, but when it does, it transforms the landscape into a winter wonderland. The real challenge, however, is not just the snow but the biting cold carried by the wind, which is a stark contrast to what I anticipated.
One pleasant surprise has been the warmth of the people in Regina. The community, exemplified by organizations like the Regina Food Bank and Al Ritche community association, extends a helping hand to newcomers like me. I found support from them... Continue reading
It’s our first winter in Regina! Of course there still not enough snow to make a snow angel, but children already had an opportunity to use the snow sleds! We spent whole day outside and children even didn’t want to go home to eat, because they were so excited in about this winter activities. Now they ask me all the time when the next snowfall will come, checking forecast and looking in the window :)
One of my favourite Regina winter memories is going skating at the rink at the school every day after school and after supper. My friends and I spent many hours there. We would warm up in the shack that had a wood stove in it and was manned by a City Worker. Such fond memories.
My favourite Regina winter memory is getting to skate on the field of Mosaic Stadium during the first ‘Iceville’ in 2021. We brought our 11 month old son and had a great time with friends.
When as kids, our Dad would take us to the Airport tobogganing hill” You couldn’t get us into the car fast enough! Warm wooly winter wear, toboggans in tow we rode to the Airport hangers. We then raced to the Tobogganing hill. This was the best place to fly down the slippery, snowy, hill on toboggans, crazy carpets and sleds! Squeals and laughter were heard all around the area from kids of all ages, even adults. Pure fun, excitement, and adventure were had many days at the Airport Tobogging Hill. We went airborne over and over from encountering the looming... Continue reading
and a Child in me is in awe … My wife and I were at the parking lot and snows starts to make the place white. This is our first winter experience as we were born and raised in a tropical country thus we all know that snowflakes with its perfect and beautiful shape is only a myth, until we saw one in our car windshield. An extraordinary experience as a Myth turned into Reality…
Coming from a hot country where temperatures reached over 50 degrees, experiencing snow for the first time was incredibly exciting for me and my little kids. Our initial winter was filled with joy, and one of the best memories was our family sledding adventure. I vividly recall my little girl falling off the sled numerous times, only to get up, laugh, and eagerly shout that she was okay and ready to try again. Her determination was inspiring. The following morning, she asked, "Mom, can we go again every day?" I replied, "We can, but not every day." Even now, after... Continue reading
I moved to Regina from Vancouver when I was 16 years old. My very first winter here was absolutely magical as I had never seen snow sparkle before. All around me looked like a beautiful landscape out of a fantasy movie with sparkles covering the ground. Of course my other sixteen year old friends thought I was crazy and told me to get inside because it's cold. I still love the winter here 23 years later and still find it magical to see the snow sparkle.
My favourite winter memory is being proposed to by my now husband 22 years ago Dec. 13 at the Festival of Lights when that was a thing in Wascana Park. I was 6 months pregnant with our oldest child. My engagement ring looked like a snowflake!💕💕It was the best planned proposal a girl could ever have dreamed of!
