What is the Municipal Wards Commission?

    City Council appoints a Municipal Wards Commission to complete the review. The Commission researches and analyzes population statistics, develops options for the new ward boundaries and presents the final report to City Council for consideration.  

    The Commission must include:  

    • A Justice designated by the Chief Justice of the Court of King’s Bench for Saskatchewan (Chairperson) 
    • City Clerk 
    • A representative of the University of Regina designated by the U of R President 

    What does the Commission consider when developing boundaries?

    The Commission considers the interest and history of communities and neighbourhoods, established community boundaries, as well as physical or natural features, such as major roads or water ways, which make boundaries easily identifiable.
