Why is the City updating its Transportation Master Plan now?

Regina’s last Transportation Master Plan was completed in 2017 and a lot has changed since then.

Also, Regina is growing. Regina’s population is expected to reach 370,000 residents by 2051. This plan will ensure our transportation network can support that growth.

What progress has been made since the last Transportation Master Plan was developed in 2017?

Most of the short-term projects identified in the previous plan are complete or in progress. The updated plan will provide an updated list of projects and priorities.

Also, Regina is growing. Regina’s population is expected to reach 370,000 residents by 2051. This plan will ensure our transportation network can support that growth.

Regina’s transportation system needs to evolve to keep pace with population growth, rising demand, shifting community priorities and needs, global realities and emerging technologies. How we move influences the quality of our lives and our public spaces. It effects how we connect with one another and our city.

What will the Transportation Master Plan cover?

The Transportation Master Plan will provide a long-term vision and direction on planning, designing and operating the transportation network as well as investments in transportation projects for all modes of travel over the next 25 years. The Transportation Master Plan will provide a roadmap for how the City will improve sidewalks, streets, bike routes, pathways, transit, parking access and more. It will also identify supporting programs and policies.

    How can I be involved?

Community input is essential in developing the Transportation Master Plan. With three major touchpoints taking place between August 2026 and spring 2027, there are many engagement activities taking place to collect input. Activities include two online surveys, two public open houses, updates on this webpage and “pop up” engagement booths at events such as I Love Regina Day (August 22, 2026 in Victoria Park). Please watch this space for dates, locations and other updates on how you can stay in touch and share your thoughts.

How will my input be used?

What we learn from the community will inform the planning process and shape the Transportation Master Plan. We will keep you informed and provide feedback on how community input influenced the creation of the Transportation Master Plan.
