Project Update - September 2026

The City of Regina is working to replace and upgrade aging infrastructure above and below ground along various major roads and traffic corridors in core areas, including Saskatchewan Drive.

The first phase of the Saskatchewan Drive Improvement Project between Broad Street and Winnipeg Street is tentatively scheduled to start construction in 2028. The timeline was adjusted to coordinate with the Heritage Drainage Upgrade Project, which will impact a few blocks within the same section of Saskatchewan Drive in 2027. The Heritage Drainage Upgrade Project will install a large stormwater main to improve drainage in the neighbourhood. This work will require temporary lane closures.

Installing the stormwater lines in 2027 will reduce the scope and complexity of the Saskatchewan Drive Improvement Project for the following year. Coordinating both projects is a way to improve efficiency and reduce the impact on residents and businesses.
Projects like Saskatchewan Drive are very complex and often involve various types of infrastructure, such as water and sewer pipes, utilities and roads. These projects align with the City’s strategic priorities to maintain current city infrastructure while also making improvements that support economic redevelopment and a vibrant community where people want to live, invest and work.
