RPS Campus & Municipal Justice Building Redevelopment

Consultation has concluded

Construction set to begin on Regina Police Service Campus Development Project

Construction is set to begin on a building that will link the current Regina Police Service (RPS) headquarters and the former Saskatchewan Transportation Company (STC) bus depot. The link between the two existing buildings is the next phase in the Regina Police Service Campus Development project, which will better support the current and future needs of the police service.

The first part of this work is to create a new temporary public entrance to RPS headquarters and to close the Osler Street entrance from Saskatchewan Drive. The new public entrance will provide the same access to all RPS services including the front desk and criminal record checks. This new entrance can be accessed via 11th Avenue and will be in use until the new link facility is operational in 2023. Signage will be installed to direct the public to the new entrance.

Additionally, the City also plans to redevelop the nearby Municipal Justice Building at 1770 Halifax Street into a neighbourhood community centre and police training and fitness facility. Construction activities will begin to startup in March. Feedback from a recent public survey will help inform future programming at the centre as well as help to finalize the design.

The Municipal Justice Building (MJB) redevelopment plan includes construction of a multi-purpose room/gymnasium to the north side of the building. While primarily a community space, the design allows Regina Police Service (RPS) to use the multi-purpose room/gymnasium for training with no public access. The building will also have dedicated space for RPS training and fitness facilities on the third floor.

A key component of the project is preserving the heritage characteristics of the building, which will be considered throughout the redevelopment process. View the conceptual design for redevelopment of the MJB. Please respond before midnight, December 23, 2020.
