When will the survey be open to the public?

The survey will be open from April 1 to 30 and all residents are invited to participate by offering their feedback.

    How can residents access it?

The survey will be available on Be Heard Regina. Residents can visit Regina.ca/PreBudget to find out more.

How often does the City prepare a budget?

The City adopted a two-year budget process starting with the 2023-24 budget. Before that, the City used an annual budget.

Why did the City switch to a two-year budget?

The decision was made by City Council in 2021 and the new processes started in 2023. Aside from long-term planning, the hope at the time was that a two-year budget would save staff time and resources that would normally be allocated to the yearly budget process. The multi-year budgeting approach supports longer-term budget planning to strengthen City programs and advance the City’s strategic priorities: infrastructure, vibrancy, livability and prosperity.

Will the feedback you receive impact how tax dollars are invested?

The input received from residents via this survey will be shared with the public and City Council and are a tool to inform Council’s budget discussions and deliberations.

What was the feedback from the last pre-budget consultation?

The report from the last pre-budget consultation (2025-2026) is available here.

Do you know if there will be an increase to property taxes or utility fees?

It is too early in the budget process to providean accurate answer. The City will continue its practice of sharing accurate, timely and transparent information with residents.
